Fresh vs frozen bait
Fresh worm and peeler usually outfish frozen. Frozen squid and mackerel are normal and catch plenty of fish.

Squid, mackerel, sandeel and herring freeze well. Frozen worm is a backup. Frozen peeler is second-best. A brown sloppy thaw is not the same bait as a blast-frozen packet.
