A long, slim bait for bass, turbot, small-eyed rays and tope. Fresh or blast-frozen, not a brown defrosted worm of an eel.

Head-hooked so it swims, or a Pennel through the head and the middle. Bind if you are casting far.
A slim baitfish. Bass, rays and tope eat them. Blast-frozen packets are the usual shop bait. A brown, sloppy thaw is not the same bait.
