Reading a beach
Sand is not empty. Gutters, bars, holes and the dump line are where food and fish collect.

Walk the beach on a low spring if you can. Note the gutter that holds water, the bar that dries, the patch of mixed ground, the stream that cuts the sand. Those are your night-time aiming points.
