Choosing a fishing mark
Beach, pier, harbour, rocks, estuary, river mouth. Match the mark to the fish, the tide, and whether you can leave when you need to.

A pier or a simple beach with a car park that does not flood is kinder than a kelp ledge in a swell. Promenades and sea walls fish like piers. Breakwaters fish like harbours. Boat marks are not in this version.
